Scooter

Light fawn greyhound, medium-sized.

Scooter is a a nervous boy who is very reserved at first, but after he gets to know you he is affectionate, comes up for a cuddle and meets you with a waggy tail.

He is very responsive to TLC, so he should have no problems with settling into his new home.

He is good with children, but he may be afraid of the younger ones, especially if they scream. He is good with other dogs, and loves to play with them.

On the lead he is very good and docile, anyone could walk him, and once he is on the lead he is more confident, he is clean in his kennel.

Scooter needs a patient family, but he will reward all efforts as he is a special boy with lots of personality, he'll make someone very happy.

1) Atlas

Black greyhound, 73 cm by shoulder.

He adores people’s attention — he is gentle, lovely and a true "cuddle monster"! He would do anything just to get a gentle hug. He is quite calm and quiet at home, always well mannered, lazy and always perfectly clean.

The reason of his specific is his communication with other dogs. He likes meeting new middle-sized and large-sized dogs AT HOME (inside). He has no problem living with them, sleeping together with them on the same bed, eating a meal together. He loves their attention when outside on a walk.

BUT he is very aggressive towards dogs he meets outside (on the walks, etc...). When outside he always wears a muzzle, but when seeing another dog, he starts to bounce and would attack a dog if he would not be on the lead. But I must say when you get used to know him a little better you learn how to react. Hopefully he would be able to make a progress if he would get a company of a person, who would be able to go trough a concrete training of socialisation with him. Despite his "minus" he still deserves a great and loving family, someone to accept him the way he is. I think the best home for him would be something like a house with a fenced garden, without all the "city-jungle" around. He is able to accept the company of adult people and children. He would be able to live with a mid or large sized dog, but should only be introduced properly. Unfortunately he would not be able to live with small-sized dogs, cats or other fluffy animals.

Furthermore ATLAS is good on the lead and well aware of the fact that sometimes he needs to be alone at home for a few hours. Hopefully he will meet his happiness soon again. As he deserves to.

2) Bertie

Fawn male greyhound.

Bertie has made it to the fit and happy category and so we are accepting suitable offers from exceptional homes for him. If you are house proud please do not waste our time enquiring as this gentleman is used to living indoors and having his choice of chairs/couch/beds to sleep on. He is obviously fully housetrained and used to living with other dogs. He is not really suitable for a home with small dogs and definitely not cats or other small animals.

This boy has had a horrible life which thankfully is in his past and he has no desire to return to that type of lifestyle. Although he is 7yrs old he still has plenty of life left in him, he enjoys going for a walk or having a sprint around the field the same as a younger dog but is obviously more relaxed with his puppy behaviour long since passed ;o))

1) Murphy

Murphy is a lovely Rough Coated Lurcher of medium size and he is 10 months old, he is a lovely friendly boy but mad as a hatter, great with other dogs and Cat Tolerant so he can be trained to them without a problem.

He is learning to be clean in his kennel, adores attention and loves to be petted and gets on great with other dogs and he loves children and he is as will as a mad hatter and would suit an active family.

He is a very hard dog to get a nice pic of and is way more beautiful than you can see here.

2) Katie

Brindle greyhound bitch.

Katie had just arrived and her profile will be updated ASAP.

She's good with kids and dogs of all sizes,

Katie never raced.

3) Tia

Blue greyhound bitch with white chest, big girl.

Tia is sociable, gentle and affectionate (loves to hug her people!), she knows her name and is obedient.

She is very quiet, but loves to run, and whenever she can she brings out all her "top gear dog" talent.

Tia is good with kids, aven small ones and is good with dogs of all sizes.

Good on the lead, clean in her kennel.

Tia would be an excellent first greyhound, because she is easy going and intelligent.

4) Bracken

Brindle greyhound, medium-sized (31 Kg).

Bracken is a lovely colour of brindle and he gets on well with other Greys but does not understand how to react to smaller dogs and is not suitable where there are cats.

He is very clean in her kennel and good on the lead as well.

5) Lulu

Black greyhound bitch with white chest.

Lulu is a lovely relaxed 4 year old Greyhound and is very playful and friendly and she gets on great with other Sighthounds but would not be safe with smaller dogs or cats.

She is very clean in her kennels and her owner gave her the height of praise and he would like to see her get a nice home.

6) Freya

Brindle greyhound bitch, big size.

Freya is a lovely 1 year old Greyhound unusual Brindle colour that does not show in the pic, but she is a Beautiful creature and is shy at first when she meets you but she is very playful and she gets on great with all other dogs but would be keen on cats and keeps her kennel clean.

Freya is in great form.

7) Sammy

Fawn greyhound, big size.

Sammy is a lovely big 3 year old Greyhound and he measures 76 cms at the shoulder, he is a very gentle type dog who loves to horse around and he can be fun loving but a wee bit strong on the lead at first and then he just toddles along as all Greys do.

But beware he is a big boy.

He would be not be suitable with cats as he is keen on smaller dogs as well so he is best suited to where there will be another big dog and he is great to keep his kennel clean.

Sammy is in great shape.

8) Harry

White and brindle greyhound, 70 cm at shoulder.

Harry is a lovely big soppy lad, he gets on well with other dogs and with people.

He is very good on the lead, does not pull, but being a big lad i wouldn't let a small child walk him unsupervised.

He has no injuries or health problems, but does have a small scar from a bite off another dog when he was a puppy, but this does not bother him.

9) Sugar

White and black greyhound bitch, 71 cm at shoulder.

Sugar is a quiet and affectionate girl, she knows her name and comes when called.

She is good on the lead, and clean in her kennel.

She's good with dogs of all sizes, even small ones, but she is protective of her food (not with humans, just with other dogs).

She's good with kids.

10) Mac

Black greyhound, 70 cm at shoulder.

The word that best describes Mac is: “bubbly”.

He is very outgoing and sociable, he greets everyone with a waggy tail, and loves to be cuddled and to receive human attention.

Mac knows his name and comes if called.

He is good with dogs of all sizes, is clean in his kennel and very good on the lead.

Mac NEEDS a family with kids as he adores them, he likes to be around them, play with them, get a lot of fuss, when he sees kids he brightens up.

Mac is in smashing condition, and is lively and sound, he can't wait to meet his new "little people" and share games and adeventures with them.

11) Lacy

Light fawn greyhound bitch, 70 cm at shoulder.

Lacy is a very gentle girl, at first she can be a bit shy and nervous with strangers (but as you can see from the picture it doesn't take her long to make friends).

Lacy knows her name, and comes if called. She is affectionate and likes to be cuddled. She is a happy girl and in good form.

Clean in her kennel and very good on the lead.

She's good with kids, but we believe that for her it would be better to go into a home with older children (over 10yrs old) as she may be afraid of the younger ones, especially if they cry.

She's good with dogs of all sizes, even very small ones, and her trainers believe that given the proper training she could get used to live with a cat.

12) Scooby

Brindle greyhound, big size (40 Kg).

Scooby is a huge "pup", and needs some discipline, but is such a lovable and loving dog.

He is very good on the lead, he can be taken out of his kennel with a finger looped in his collar, good with children.

Scooby never raced.

Taz is a real headturner and is a lively, very sociable and outgoing girl. She's got a lovely nature and has got a sunny personality.

Silky is the Queen of Abhaile Kennels - and she knows it! A confident, self assured little Madam, she glides through life with the silky ease of someone who knows she is always right in everything she does! Toby has had a hard start in life, when he came into Abhaile's care his tail was rotting away to the degree that part of it had to be amputated.

But the past is the past, and Toby is now a happy, sociable young man.

He is a strong boy and is in very good shape.

He is outgoing, affectionate, and happy to meet visitors, he'll greet everyone with a waggy tail.

16) Titan

Black greyhound white chest, 33 Kg.

I asked Titans’ owner to sum him up in one word and she said “clumsy”! Poor boy! Well, despite having four left paws, Titan is a very beautiful boy, with a nature as handsome as his soft black coat.

Gentle and patient, Titan is excellent with people and other large dogs and, having lived in his trainers’ home for the past while, is clean and tidy. He tends not to chew things in the house but he regards all cuddly toys as a danger to his loved ones and will destroy them as quickly as possible! He LOVES his food and walking along pressed to your leg but MOST of all, to lie quietly on your sofa, with his head in your lap as you stroke his ears... Ah, heaven!

White and black greyhound, 33 Kg.

Named for the Incomparable Mr. Wilde, Oscar is an intelligent, proud and beautiful young boy. A true gentleman, Oscar doesn’t just walk gently on the lead, he catwalks, showing every inch of his beautiful physique to best advantage! Lest you think he’s just “good looking” and no more, let me tell you that this gentle soul is deeply affectionate, loving and as Lazy as Sin! (I think he knows he looks his best while asleep!)

An angel with children and other dogs, Oscar will win you over with his fashionable looks first, then with his warmth, his eagerness to please and his soulful good nature. 19) Teddy

White and black greyhound, 70 cm at shoulder.

Teddy is the most affectionate, soft and gentle greyhound you could ever meet!

He is great with everyone and everything, his trainer thinks that if introduced properly he could even get used to cats.

Teddy is very good on the lead, and he loves to lean on your legs and sigh. He sighs like a whale...

Teddy will melt your heart, it is impossible to resist his very special nature.

20) Dave

Black greyhound white chest, 70 cm at shoulder.

Dave is quite a character, and it was very hard to take his picture as he would come over to have a look at the camera and get a cuddle all the time!

Dave is very sociable and outgoing, he's got a good sense of homour and a bomb proof way to become is best friend is to offer him a treat.

He is lively, but gentle and gets on well with everyone and everything. New situations can spook him sometimes.

He is good with children, even with small ones.

Dave knows his name and is very obedient and responsive if treated with kindness, harsh manners don't work with him at all, he would just “freeze” and get scared. Treat him nicely and gently and Dave will do anything to please you!

Red fawn greyhound, 67 cm at shoulder.

Chucky is a quiet and affectionate dog, who gets on with everyone and everything. He's got a lovely nature and is an easy dog. Chucky is good with children, even small ones and is SO in love with Dely, they do everything together and their trainer will let them go only as a pair.

White and brindle greyhound bitch.

Dely is quiet, but likes to play. She is friendly and affectionate and has got a lovely personality, she is an easy dog. She is good with children, even small ones, and with other dogs. She's available only as a pair with Chucky. Both are good on the lead, and walking them together is not a problem.
